Update on Australian Royal Commission - Proposed Redress
by Pants of Righteousness inapologies if this has been posted previously, but this news item has appeared today regarding the proposed redress for abuse victims following the australian royal commission:.
http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-10-27/labor-pledges-payments-for-sex-abuse-survivors/6886864.
what's interesting is that in january it was proposed that the federal government contribute almost half of an estimated $4.3 billion redress scheme.

As far as I'm concerned they should seize all Kingdom Hall properties and use the proceeds to recompense the victims. -

Plea to Governing Body and those with influence!
by Truthexplorer inthis is a long shot to those with influence at bethel, particularly the governing body.
if you happen to be a lurker on this site.
please take into account the feelings of those who are affected or even hurting because of current teachings and policies emanating from watchtower.

Let me say respectfully, Truthexplorer, that you are being naïve and your efforts will be wasted. Instead of "clutching at straws" you should wait for something more substantial to clutch, like a baseball bat.
I don't know what your family situation is like but I believe that if you can pull the plug then go for it. Tell your wife about the pedophilia issue; make her see the videos from the Australian Royal Commission. Tell her that there is no way that you will allow your daughter to attend meetings or field service due to that.

Did Ray Franz manage to live out a comfortable retirement from the proceeds of his books.
by joe134cd ini'm just curious if anybody knows.
firstly i don't take issue with the man making money from his books and if he was able to live comfortably from it then i say power to him.
but what i'm wanting to know was just how successful was it and did it allow him to live out the remainder of his years in comfort e.g buy a house, eat good food etc.

A poster mentioned that only the big and well known authors can make money and, as a published author, I can tell you that it's damn near impossible just to get your book noticed let alone bought. Amazon must have a literal million books which simply swamp any one book in particular no matter how ingenious you try to get with search words and other tactics.
I still have my first royalty check which I want to frame instead of cashing it. It's for $32.
For the sake of vanity and self glorification here it is.

slimboyat: "Who owns the copyright?"
I wish I knew. There will always be a niche market for that book although I think that only a few thousand per year would be the maximum sales. Also, royalties on paperback books are usually less than 10%.

"@ slimboyfat...
"How much would you have cut Ray in for?"
I think slimboyfat was referring to the time after Ray passed away. I believe that was when the books skyrocketed in price. I doubt though that anyone could sell more than a thousand nowadays without lowering the market price dramatically.
I remember getting mine for $10.

Who are these men? Would you follow them?
by James Mixon in1)he ran around and wandered for 3 years naked.. 2) he hid his underwear in a rock but then went back to retrieve it after a "long time".. apparently he didn't mind parting with his draws, but he couldn't be separated from the.
cattle yoke he had fastened to his shoulders until someone broke it off.. 3)he married a prostitute and named their daughter lo-ruhama, which means 'unloved.. 4) we have the guy that preached in in town and the entire city repented.
for any preacher this.

Paranoia after today's Watchtower
by Truthexplorer inboy oh boy did i feel paranoid at today's wt.
not only are we to watch our associations outside of the congregation, but also watch our associations 'within' the congregation.
this was emphasised by the wt study conductor.

onightdivine, how many in your congregation suffer from Bitchy Resting Face or its male equivalent? You might find them to be fellow apostates.
